These were previously only available for later UK cars, now they have Mk1 ones that should fit Aussie cars. They're a bit on the expensive side, but it would be nice to have the bonnet open that far :D

All depends on the quality of gas struts I know they only last a couple years on hatchbacks

I replaced them twice on a Honda integra we had for about 10 years

honda integra hatch would be a fair bit heavier than a mini bonnet wouldn't it?

And hopefully you don't open the bonnet as often as you open the boot.... (except to show off your fancy hinges I guess)

Brilliant invention, wish I had a dollar for every time I caught my head on a Mini bonnet or had to go stretch the back after stooping under one for long periods...

you'd have what... $20? :P

I'd be keen on a set, but not for $200 - I think $80 is about the most I'd pay

Not quite the same but cheaper and does solve head banging problem

Buy http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search

2 quick release springs from the minispares kit MSSK019 ( springs only , cost very little

mark hinges for fit , use dremel or file to create a slight flat on existing bonnet hinges ( look at the picture of mssk019 to see what i mean , voila bonnet comes off...... i haven't done it on a roadie, so not sure of legality Darryl
