If they can sell it for $7.50 a bottle and still make a profit I wonder what I can get it direct from the factory for since there local to me might give them a call next week

They will most likely say if you buy 2000 pellets you can have it at that price but I will give it a try

Just got back from Supercrap, no Gulf Western left, or Magnatec 15W/40 (for my Jeep) either!
They are a PITA for keeping stock, they didn't even have any 2 stroke lawnmower oil either.

So the diesel 15W40 oil that GR talks of is fine to run in the mini? I keep seeing it in the 20 litre drums for $70-odd bucks. If this is compatible, I will use it in both the mini and the pootrol. I have always shied away from the diesel oils as I thought they were only for diesel cars...now I might just buy it up in bulk and decant it away in the garage.

Nothing wrong with using diesel oil in petrol engines, me and my friends used to use Shell Rotella in out Fiat 124 coupes back in the 70s.

But switching to diesel oils in an older engine can be harmful.
The diesel oils have a higher detergent level to remove carbon, if you have an old engine the new oil might quickly remove the built up carbon and block the oil filter in a couple of days.

Thanks Doc and Morris. Might run a cheap diesel 15W40 through the patrol and dump it after a couple of hundred Kay's and change up again. I recently had the tappet cover off to do some planned maintenance on the patrol and was clean as a whistle in there was very little in the way of deposits on anything. Tappet adjusted up and riddled myself of the annoying tappety tap inherent in the GQ TB42E and I dump the oil religiously every 5000km with a change of oil filter. I have half a dozen of the filters so have plenty to back me up.

Well bought 20 litres of diesel oil for the patrol and drained and refilled the car. Went for a drive and pressures are up from 4kg/cm3(Nissan gauges!) to 5kg/cm3 at idle and 5kg/cm3 to 6kg/cm3. Tappet noise is nearly non-existent and car is smoother and less noisy all round. Did both diffs as well as the gearbox and really happy with the big car now. I only hope the results are the same for the mini when I finally get him back on the road.
