Next question...While looking today at 850's I noticed that our Car number 60542 has what I call a Australian pressed fire wall, which has the recess on the right hand side only for the master cylinders (see pic below). Can we work out with car numbers when it was first fitted to the 850 bodies ?
As we know what appeared in the parts book often does not match.

My Mini Minor was 1966, smack bang in the middle of the numbers Watto cites, so they must have sold well in the first year then slowed somewhat towards the end. Dated by continuous registration records at the time i bought it, and the boot lock and wiper motor. First registered in NSW.

Mine was originally Toga White with red interior. The door cards front and rear had no pleats in them, just flat vinyl. Does not seem like a common fleet colour combo, but could be proven wrong. It had grey seatbelts. The rubber mats were goooone when i bought it in 1990, but the press studs that held them around the edges were still there. And yes it definitely had the single piece headlining.

Other Mini Minor items (or lack thereof) on top of those already mentioned are single speed wipers, no heater, starter button on floor, single leading shoe drums on the front.

See the build plate below. And an overhead shot of it as bought.

Cheers
michael

Hey Flapper, you must be getting RSI with all that typing. Haven't seen that much excitement from you for a long time. Mention 850, your eyes must light up. Long live the 850.

lol, What about poor Mrs Flapper, not only is she getting RSI, she is also getting sore eye's from looking at the screen

We and a few others have tried this sort of thing before, and didn't get much of a response :( so we will keep trying as with so many changes happening with the 850's, it is often hard to know what 850 parts go with what Car number.
Big progress has been, we are just trying to close up the gaps.

I have also seen it done the other way with the 850 pressing used on very early Cooper S and Deluxe. So they must have changed the panel after the start of the Cooper S but before the end of the 850.

Interestingly, my Morris 850 was supplied with a Morris MiniMinor drivers handbook from the dealer Premier Motors. Looks to be a UK publication.

TK - what's the publication number?

We have now got the Car numbers to 500 different. 51000 for 2 piece and 51500 for a 1 piece.
That is fairly close when a lot of Car's have ended up as scrap.

Do you have an approx. build date for that period?

G'day I'm restoring an August 1964 850 (sold new in Hobart mid-September '64). It has sliding doors, a one-piece headlining, Aussie boot lid pressing and a full skirt front apron panel. Car number is 534XX and engine number is 8Y/U/H 129XX. Hope this info helps to fill in some gaps.

Your Car number does not help close the gap regarding the 1 piece head lining, but we do have another question for you.....on your full skirt front apron, does it have an English or Aussie number plate bracket?

If your Car still has any of the original trim, could you please post some photo's for us.

The wiper motor dates are coming up around the 7/64.
