Hi All,
I'm sorry if this has come up before.
I have a '67 Cooper S, a wife, a 3 y.o and a 4 y.o...
Sadly, my wife will divorce me if I take the kids on the mini because it doesn't have any rear seat belts or anchor points for kids seats. I do not want to put belts or anchor points in the car.
Hence, I am considering importing a more modern mini from overseas (Japan etc.), and keep the '67.
Does anyone have any idea about or experience with rover mini imports with:
- Modern safety features
- Child seat anchors
- Do child seats fit
- Rear seat belts
- Ability to modify the engine (even with E.F.I)
Would be so pleased to get some feedback.
Regards,
Brendon

Buy a BMW mini or divorce the wife.
Both of those are more are more practical than buying a rover as a safety upgrade!

Back in my day, My friends parents had a 850 with a Supercharged Cooper S block with a blower thing out the bonnet....

She was carted around in a Fruit box ( remember those cardboard things) She survived to live the tale ( it was the early 80s though) but seriously, When I have kids They will be going in my classic, You have to remember its pre ADR so rules like that don't apply I believe.

I have a new R53 Cooper S.... It no longer has the kidmounts as I tracked down a NOS John Cooper S works rear seat which don't have the mounts!

It's not the ADR or police that worry me. They're pussy cats compared to "The Wife"!

The Rovers are basicly the same as what you've got safety wise as far as bodywork goes. Sure on a late MPI you'll get an air bag for you and a piddly piece of pipe in the doors that they call an intrusion bar. A Rover one wouldn't fair any better or worse than a '67 model.
Why are you worried about putting seat belts in it, get some proper matching ones, would be fine. That'll keep her and you happy. :-)

Minisport sell seat belts and ADR approved mounting plates.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

I also don't want to put belts in the back of my S. I got away with not having to fit belts by "driving miss daisy" when the missus was in the car.
