I've been trying to contact a business by the name of M & S Johnson Car Upholstery since the day after MITG at Kembla Grange. Their address is 2/9 Mill Rd, Campbelltown NSW 2560. All I get in response to my phone call is a sharp single beep. I've emailed them; no response. Does anyone know if they're still around, or if they just have taken an extended break?

Just tried again. Seems the number that is available on the 'net has been disconnected. Not a good sign.

Hello DavidE,
I live nearby. Would you like me to drive past the address and check for snakes/unanswered Avon catalogues?
(I don't mean to be flippant, esp. if money is at stake).
We were at MITG too. (White mkII S & Green K)

I would appreciate it if you could, Bill. I was referred to them as a possible source of the green vinyl I'm trying to find to do some repairs to my Malmo Green Deluxe's interior. Cheers.

Hello DavidE,
Just visited that address in Campbelltown. The unit is empty without traces of its former occupant. A guy in a nearby unit said the upholsterer had gone broke about 6 months ago, owing lots to many. Hope you weren't one of those.
Bill

Thats a shame as I know he had done minis and had a few decent templates taken from original. He did some work for me and at the time he had some green that had been vinyl sprayed on the roll for a major mini resto. That might be what they had.

I Think the are still around,
they were very nice people unfortunately they trusted
a lot of people who did not pay them what was owed to them.

I will see if I can find a phone number for them

Ive just had my seats done by a guy in Adelaide and he gets his vinyl from an Australian company called Novatex. The seats in my 1971 Mini K were a baby blue colour and he managed to get an exact match. He also found an exact match for my 1976 Clubby, you know that funny light brown colour sorry i don't know the name. Any good upholster wilĺ have numerous colour swatches you might be suprised whats available.

Thank you Bill. Another sad event in the history of small business in Australia. No I wasn't owed any money, just trying to do business. Seems there's always somebody trying to screw somebody else out of their hard earned dollars, I have got a good auto-upholsterer nearby, it's just that he doesn't have any of the NOS that is likely to turn up what I'm looking for.

Pleased to help.
You have to keep looking and asking for samples to find a close match. Problem seems to be that upholsterers have a limited number of suppliers with a limited range of colours available to them.
I've been looking for a match for my 1969 K "parchment" vinyl for years (Not the Leyland "Parchment" in winabby's colour card), but a very pale, almost white. Have recently found a close match at a supply place so will be making my own covers as I don't think upholsterers will appreciate me supplying my own.

I've managed to locate two front seats in the very colour that I've been searching for (thanks to Watto for the suggestion), and the coverings are hopefully being collected for me this weekend in Adelaide. My friends there will them send them on to me.

Could you let me have his phone number? All the auto upholsterers I've visited have nothing remotely matching what I'm trying to track down.

Parchment. The company is http://www.novatexinternational.com/ and off memory I think the code for the fabric was Ross RT112. But I'll dig out the code. Not sure on stock levels though. Any reputable trimmer should have these swatches. The trimmer that I use here in Adelaide is Chris Woodward. He used to have his own shop but now works with a mate and from home.
