We have now got the Car numbers to 500 different. 51000 for 2 piece and 51500 for a 1 piece.

This narrows it down further. :)

Thank you everyone for your input. The change over Car Number in the Bulletin is the number we were looking for, so thank you Winabbey. It would be now nice to get Car's closer to that number.

According to Parts List HYL3262 Part No. 14A6474, Fire Wall Panel was changed to HYA2120 at YMA2S1 34534 which would have occurred in September 1963
Fully detailed in my upcoming book.

Have lifted a few bonnets....And we still find 2 recesses with 45702 & 46396, maybe the change to Part number 14A6474 was for some other change that hasn't shown up yet?

We need a few more bonnet lifters

Hi flapper, re: your front apron query, my 850 still has the number plate bracket mounts as per UK, with the tapered mounting bracket to suit the shorter Australian format number plate. I will post some photos of interior trim when I get a change - it is a work in progress, but rear seat is original tan and fronts have been restored using matching vinyl from another 64 850 back seat...

I have a (replacement) wind-up window door on my mini that I am stripping for repainting at the moment. It has some features I have not seen before:
1. 4 brackets spot-welded to the bottom of the door pocket - as a base for a pocket insert? Or to assist in rust formation.
2. square drain holes under the door pocket with a small hole beside each for a pop-rivet or screw.
3. large rubber grommet in the hole in the door pocket allowing access to hinge fasteners - under the kick plate.
Is this an early wind-up door? Original paint is powder (light) blue, ala police station car.

The early windup window doors did have a square drain hole on the bottom of the door.
this was covered by a small piece of rubber that was held in place by a self tapping screw,
through a small piece of metal on one side only.

the theory was that if water got into the door, the weight of the water would push
the rubber flap down and the water would run out,
the rubber would then return to its position, sort of a one way valve

Hi Flapper, here are a couple of pictures of my 850's interior (well seats). Retrimmed fronts are not perfect in terms of fit and the vinyl used for the piping and side facings isn't a great match, but overall I'm pretty happy that it is at least close to original now, especially for the relatively low cost (I retrimmed the frames and fitted the covers myself to keep the cost down).

Hi TartanRed,
Thank you for your Pic's, Good to see that someone else has the same idea as us, to use back seat to make good front seats. A few wrinkles are all part of it.. Yours have come up well.
We are still looking for more 850 back seats, all patterns, all colours.
