Does that make Ss twice as cool ?? :)

Cheers, Ian

Was that the colour on the ID plate? You don't see many early MK1's in red.

Did he get that price?

I think I'd struggle to slip that past treasury unnoticed!

Is that a Cooper S? Whats with the wheel arches? I thought the Cooper S's (plural of Cooper S) had flared arches..

On a Mk1 they came from the factory with no arches, but they had to be fitted in some states to meet local regulations.

On a Mk2 they all came with arches.

My opinion only but unless the Mini your looking at is known by those in the know... (the hallowed few) then as others said, get in contact with a Mini club in that state and have them verify it. It may cost some $$ but so would any inspection.
I don't think any classic Mini you buy today will lose value, unless you pay too much for it in the first place. (or crash it). Good luck and happy hunting. :)

Will do. In the meantime let me know if anything good comes up.
I'm always happy to pay consulting fees to ensure my interests are looked after :)

I have a 1963 Austin Countryman for sale, rarer than a cooper s. Brand new full nut and bolt restoration here in Perth. Valued with Shannons for $33k will sell for $30K. Original 850 engine and gearbox fully rebuilt comes with it but now running a nicely sorted 1293, stage 3 head, 40mm weber, maniflow extractors, rc40 exhaust etc etc. PM if interested or join Perth Mini Drivers on facebook where nice cars are always popping up.

Hey eecee,
The blue and white mini k on car sales looks very much like one sold by an AusMini member last year. Think his name was Ian.
The restoration was in the members section of this site.

I read the thread.

Most of it may as well have been in Norwegian to me.
But I get what you all mean by making sure a potential purchase is eight a known car or vetted by an expert!

I know the red car pictured and it is absolutely immaculate and as far as I remember genuine and matching numbers. So bear in mind this would be the absolute upper end of the market.

But that's what I am after, if anyone knows of anyone wanting to fund another project :)

I found this car...

apparently owned by Phillipa Smith in NSW.
The plate seems genuine and matches up with the registry.
I have spoken the the garage that it was serviced at who says its genuine and in good condition.

Anyone know this car?
