I was wondering about the pictures on my switches and what they should be for as well. The speedo/clock face switch does my head lamps, the centre switch that looks like a fan symbol does the wiper blades and the right switch with the wiper symbol does the water spraying. I'm thinking someone has just wired it up with whatever they had laying around at the time.

Check the switch behind the terminals inside the switch the contacts there wear away by the copper contact plate thing that moves up and down when you turn them on and off also that contact plate could be worn as well a bit of flux and solder fixes this to build the contacts back up

Hate to have a stupidly obvious question, although I know it isn't seeing as I am asking it, by auto park do we mean going back to the resting position?

When was the auto park introduced? Or was it standard from the start?

Self parking wipers started in Australia in 1965 with the Mini Deluxe. (unless the 998 Cooper beat it) they all had it after that.

The 850 missed out.

Self parking wipers and intermittent operation was indeed a big deal back in the day. Intermittent wipers were part of a famous court case where GMC and Chrylser tried to bury the inventor.
