Originally, on up to '73? Clubbies (with remote shift) the wires ran from up the front on the subframe. These remotes had a switch on the gearbox, below the oil filter.
You may need to extend these 2 wires back along the subframe and connect to your rodchange's switch.. as I did on our `78. Someone had ripped them out... :cry:

thanks again doc, but i forgot to mention, ive got a metro engine and box. should i still look for what you described or is it something else??

if its only two wires, and two contacts, it doesnt matter how you hook them up to the switch. all it does is make contact, so that current can flow to the bulbs.

Put the two wires on the two connectors, and try yer reverse lights. Both rear indicators should come on and stay on
