Ok so sort of still Mini related but more a Computer problem.

I have a Macbook Pro that runs Virtual Windows (VMware Fusion), I use the Windows side very occasionally but it always performs perfectly, including running a complex 3D viewer i use for work.

I bought an Accusark Black Box, but unfortunately the software came on disc, ...and my daughter has our external CD drive.

No problem, I copied the CD to a USB and ran the installer in Windows. Installation Successful.

However I cannot run Accuspark as i get an error....

"Runtime error 339"
"Component MSCOMM32.OCX or one of it's dependancies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I later noticed that MSCOMM32.OCX is in the Accuspark folder as well as another installer for PL2303 XP WIN7 Vista Driver Installer v1.5.0

....I ran this too with no improvement.

I'm not very familiar with windows, is this an easy fix?

Cheers in Advance

Bit of an update, installed it successfully on my wife's Macbook. Same setup using Virtual windows and it installed OK.

So I should be right now...

...but I'd still like to get it working on my computer so I don't have to steal my wife's Macbook!

Not Mac specific but have you compared the Accuspark files on the two computers to see if any are different or missing?

I'm surprised you got it to work on the Macbook. I also read that it only worked up to Win 7, so didn't try my Macbook, I used my old desktop PC with XP pro, and a 5M USB cable across the garage! It works, but isn't exactly portable!

Hi Doc, It's only working on our MacBooks because they have Windows installed on them. To run Windows they use a special app. You can switch from Mac to Windows instantly. Windows can run in a separate window, you can drag items from Windows to Mac, or Windows can fill the whole screen and it is the same as having a Windows Computer. Handy for programs that only run on Windows.

My Mac has Win 7 Enterprise,
the wife's has Win 7 Professional.

Same, both have the MSCOMM32.OCX there in the folder too.

in your windows VM on your mac try doing the follow:

Open CMD and go to the specific directory:
cd \windows\syswow64
regsvr32 c:\MSCOMM32.OCX

lol sure, you were almost there, Type the bold blue text exactly onto the computer's CMD window

1) Bring up the CMD window again.
2) type cd \windows\syswow64
3) type regsvr32 c:\MSCOMM32.OCX

if step 3 doesn't work it just mean that MSCOMM32.OCX wasn't in that folder, so you will have to find it in the folder where Accuspark was installed. that could be something like c:\Program Files\Accuspark\ but not having installed that particular program I can't say for certain.
The other option is to uninstall Accuspark, then restart(reboot) windows and tryinstalling it again as you said that it worked on your wife's Mac.
If you're still having problems PM me and I'll give you my phone number.
Regards
Maelgwn

After uninstall and re-install, yes the MSCOMM.OCX file is in the Accuspark folder so I tried using that location but I get an error (see screenshot)

I also tried moving the file to the Syswow32 folder but same error.

OK, this error can be a bit annoying at times and there can be different ways to fix this, so we will start again from the beginning.
If you computer is currently running. I would like you to do a shutdown power off.
Then start you computer and boot into windows.
Then do the following 9 steps. (This procedure we are going to try is going to reset the program within the windows registry, this is a part of windows OS that knows where files and programs are located)

1) Open the "CMD" window.
2) Type the following command: cd \windows\syswow64
3) Hit ENTER.
4) Type the following command: regsvr32 /u MSCOMM32.OCX
5) Hit ENTER. (This will UN-REGISTER your file.)
6) Type the following command: regsvr32 /i MSCOMM32.OCX
7) Hit ENTER. (This will RE-REGISTER your file.)
8) Close the "CMD" window.
9) Re-start the Accuspark program.

Cheers

Also.... (as you can see above) I moved the OCX file to the Syswow32 folder ....but I tried the same process with it in the Accuspark folder first with the same result.

AH! ok, don't keep coping the file, it makes no difference and may stuff things up.

What I want you to try this time ( I should have mentioned it before ) is find the CMD icon in the menu system, from memory it in START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES.
when you find it Right click on it and select Run As.. Administrator.
then redo the last set of steps I sent you.

Cheers
Maelgwn
