Very suave photo.
The photo prompted a thought that removing the passenger seat from a vehicle contravenes some road regulation in the premier state. Have never seen details in print but have heard the statement from several sources. Not trying to spoil your fun there, as I've done it occasionally too. Just curious if it's true.

I've had a look online and haven't found anything concrete either way.. The factory fitted wing nuts there? so you could say it is a temporary modification and it is pre ADR's as well.

Better than putting the dog on the original rear seats :D

The rear seat cushion on my 97 Jeep Cherokee has to come out to allow the back seat to fold down. Due to the factory headrests. So it sounds suss to me.

Pulled the engine out so my "groovy cylinder" can be fixed....

Bloody PO welded the extractors to the pipe so mr angle grinder was required....will worry about sorting it later.....pretty difficult to take engine out alone - finally had to get the missus to raise the lifter arm while I pushed and tilted the engine as hard as possible....

TIme to clean up the engine bay and check everything that is accessible at the moment......and get the Mk1 ready for Bathurst! :D

Long weekend means maintenance! Plenty of highway running this year, so its time to check all the moving bits.

I'll get to the hubs in the next few days as well.

Fitted gear selectors and reverse to gearbox, and put the synchro hubs back together.

The brake light pressure switch had completely failed (new crappy chinese one)

Found an old lockheed pressure switch and bunged it in - 43 year old switch that's been in the elements still works perfectly unlike a 1 year old switch...

Once this one eventually carks it will probably bite the bullet and go for a mechanical switch on the pedalbox.

Least I have brake lights again!

Some guys on Mini Mania forum in US have fitted Harley hydraulic switches. From Amazon and others.

The Harley switch is the same as a Holden switch

Reassembled motor after waiting 2 months to get a sleeve machined up to fit the rear seal better/ use a more easily obtainable and better fitting seal
Image

Also finished grinding the previous owners custom fabricated seat mounts out (as much as I felt safe doing without going too close to the floor or seat rail)Image

Then cleaned all the filings out, sanded the floor, cleaned all the filings out, blew more out with the compressor and cleaned them out again. Then laid down 1 coat of POR-15 and left it to set over night. 2nd coat tomorrow.Image

Motor will be going back in soon. Need to touch up some paint in the engine bay and try to to scratch it again when dropping the motor in.

Fitted one of wombats voltage stabilisers and discovered that the fuel guage now works properly....
Until I start moving and it slowly starts dropping.

I put the van on the hoist today to replace a front lower stabiliser bush.
Spent the next hour swearing and throwing stuff around trying to find the replacement I had in my hand just before I moved the car.
So I fired the bike up and went for a ride instead.
