we don`t use the facets anymore, the cheapo ebay ones were leaking & stopping on us so we just don`t use em

we have rotory types now & they work a treat, quiet, reliable & fairly cheap at $110 each
cylindrical type, one strap around & bolt & fit fuel filter before it & away you go & don`t look back

but,,, i`m with the good Doc here, sounds more like a condensor or coil or points

however, the 1275LS was renound for fuel vapourizing
the pipe from the pump runs right beside the exhaust pipe
so gets hot & vapour in pipe, pump won`t pump because the vapour squashes up & pushes back
check the fuel pipe from the pump to the carb & see how close to the exhaust pipe it is

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.

It's close !. And we fitted Maniflow LCB extractors. Hmmmm
