Is there a way i can test a coil?
To see if its any good.

we used to have a "coil reserve tester"
it was magic, hook it up & wind the dial up to say 50% , then hit the button & if the engine stumbled
the coil was stuffed (or not very good at least)
best i ever found was %70 & was from the dirty-est crappy-est gungy-est old sh!tty looking 850 you`d ever seen :-)
i ran that coil in my race car for about 12 years solid :-)

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.
