I have a clubby three guage setup with a tacho.
Driving today i noticed that the center guages have stopped working. Not all things have stopped. Blinkers still work, dash lights still work. But i have no fuEL, TEMP and alt light. I didn't check the high beam but i have a feeling it won't work either. I have checked the fuses. and checked to make sure the connector on the back is in nice and tight. Someone said today that there is a regulator in the back of the guages. but i don't know where that would be in a clubby, if they have one at all? Any clues anybody?

It's a 10V regulator, like on a roundnose, but on a Clubbie it plugs into the PCB. 99% chance that's the problem. When they go, the gauges either read high, or zip.
PM Wombat, he makes electronic ones for $15 or so.

There is a silver-colour voltage stabiliser in the back of the guages. Its rectangular and has three pins. I think I need a new one too...

Check the printed circuit board thouroughly, too. If there is a break in any of the circuits, they should be fixed. Don't do what most people do and use a soldering iron. You end up just buckling/melting the plastic. Buy yourself a conductive pen ($35 from Dick Smith's) and just redraw the circuits. It sounds expensive, but it lasts for ages, doesn't melt the plastic, and is good for overclocking your X800 Pro graphics card! Just remember to scratch away at the surface lightly to break through the plastic coating and expose some copper, then join the two exposed spots.

Anonymous moderation means the agro that is built up towards the mods isn't aimed at an individual (fewer "Makk" attacks). Less stress for mods means less moderator "retirements".

Thanks guys i will pull it out and pop it back in tonight and see if that fixes it. if not i will try a new one from wombat. or get another guage to test whats wrong with it.

I can't quite see what the problem was from the photo?

just left of the earth lead there is a copper track lifted and broken. I also found another crack in the dash light track that serviced the tacho. i was wondering why it worked and didn't. Anyway i will have that all fixed and back in tomorrow moring, but i am not climbing under the car to swap speedo cables in the cold weather! it can wait.

for those interested. i have fixed the PCB and also was able to thread a new speedo cable into the old surround. (it had snapped at the head end.) works a treat and now i can see that i need to fill up before i go to work tomorrow morning.
