At the factory, the whole body can be put on a giant spit (like a huge pole going through the hole car and then spun around on it etc.

The onyl reason why it can't be filled in is laziness

So nothing goes through the hole at all?? No cabling or anything like that?
If there is nothing goin through it then it may as well get filled while the car is getting the bodywork done...

dynamat is the absolute best stuff you can use, makes all the other stuff looks like crap.
very expensive.

the wiring loom goes through teh centre hole, as does the speedo cable.

I think I can cannibalise a round plate thing and pop rivet it into place

Barney has a Clubbie plate in him, but the p/o rewired the car so it fits properly, cable grommet and all...
He also lengthened all the wires onto the instruments and then screwed the binnacle onto the dash trim. So, after undoing a few screws & the early Clubby  speedo cable (from inside the car), the whole binnacle etc is sitting in my lap. Beeeautiful...

Yep, that's the stuff. There is nothing better. All the car audio guys have tried everything, and nothing compares to dynamat.

Probably the very last of the ones with rotor dip holes. The rear seat part doesn't have a hole...only the firewall. Weird huh! :?

mines a 10/76 :P

I was going to use the silver backed foam (auto grade, often used as a heatshield on turbo cars) from Clark Rubber to line the dash/firewallwall before I give it a full dash. Im sure most of the sound is coming from behind the dash and via the hole cut for the weber. The hole houses a steel 'weberbox' but plenty of noise is getting through that section.
Which reminds me, I can fit my weber now :P

Because i work in the Airconditioning industry, when it is time to put the pieces of my mini back together, i might use some of the aircon units insulation... I was actually thinking about this the other week before i read this topic, I dont think the aircon stuff is real heavy either....
