I am searching for info on tuning SU's.

I just pulled this off the net, and thought others might like to read it.

Hope it helps. 8)

A length of plastic hose to listen with replaces tjhe fancy meter everyone recommends. The special jet spanner for adjusting the jet should be available from Midel. Use the piston lifting method for setting the mixture. You actually should not need a spanner to adjust the jet but they do become difficult to turn sometimes. As Kevin says SU's are dead simple to tune once you have the right needle in them. There is no simpler carby.

Yep like Chris I just use a bit of plastic tube to balance them- one end in mouth of carb and the other in my earhole.
Just have to use my `good' ear..
You can still buy Colortunes, but I'm not sure who carries them. I just read the plugs...

I say to everyone who has a set or even one SU to tune. Make sure the shafts and bushes are in good condition, iIf not life can get a little difficult. SU's don't like air leaks. If there is more than a minor amount of movement then get them overhauled.

Got my Colourtune from Autopro Belconnen - pure luck and made it simpler to tune them up. However now sold the twin SU's on Ebay so will see if it works on the dellorto too.

Pricey at $89 but saved me a lot of agro with the ear method
