Hi,
Does anybody know if Aus cars come out with a 22G190 gearbox. Are they the same/or similar gears as 22G333? Do they interchange with 22G333? What diff ratio did they have? Would they fit a 1275 motor. Are they a good gearbox.
Thanks

From the Mini Kingdom catalogue (1998/99)

Quote:
Three speed syncromesh, Remote control type
gearbox this type of gearbox was first introduced in Australia on the MINI COOPER & the MINI DELUXE. The identifying numbers (Cast in case NOT STAMPED in case) for this type of gearbox are: 22A1288 ** 22A1522 ** 22G190 ** 22G333 ** 22G68

They are wrong when they call the box a three speed!

According to my Mini car Clinic cattledog, the 22G190 was used on the 1071 and 970 Cooper S models.

I believe you could fit a 1275 on, box probably would need a bit of relieving to clear the rods- particularly if 1100S/1275LS type.

Hi,
If they are an early Cooper S gearbox, does anyone who if they are interchangable with
22G333 Cooper S gearbox internals.
Thanks

Yes they took both the A form and B form Cooper (S) gears. according to my cattledog.

There was little physical difference inside all these early boxes- I put a set of 997 Cooper gears & synchros into an early 850 box (which had cone synchros) once. Then I butchered the front to clear 1100S rods...

Go the full synchro....
less noise, easier first gear...
fits all engines without mods.
