I wacked on the 1.5" carbie, now i have run into some issues.

It was running realy really rich (plugs were BLACK and it kept backfiring)

But now i dont know if its running too rich still or if there are other issues.

Its coughs and tries to keep running after I turn it off with the key.

And, it seems be be running fairly hot.

And, if I push that screw thing up with the spring, it idles faster, i thought it was supposed
to nearly stall ?

Please help!!

Do you guys think it is still running waaay to rich ?

Well, I got it running ok now, well at least when im driving

Idle RPM is a tad higher than like it, about 1100RPM, the old 1 1/4 was about 1000 to
800RPM.

Still having the issue of spluttering after I turn it off though.

Any suggestions ?

Did some research.

I think my accelerator cable may be sticking and holding the carbie open slightly.

Those are all signs of running too rich.. it's not nearly supposed to stall when you lift the pin up.. it should pick up in revs slightly and stay there... if it stalls of cuts back in revs it's running too lean.

I've always believed that if the revs drop straight away it's too lean.
If they rise it's too ritch.
If it rises then falls to about the same then it's pretty close.
This affects the mix over the whole rev range.

Maxi23 are you running a standard exhaust? i.e cast iron or are you running extractors like lcb's?
If its std NAV used to run a ABX needle and went great.

I'd look at your timing too, and look at running a set of hotter plugs..

"running on", after you turn it off is a sure sign of it idling too high (at least) often it`s also a sign of over advanced ign timing & can also be a sign of engine running too hot,,,any one, or combination of all three, will tend to make them "run on"

easy-peasy

& yeah, it still sounds a bit rich tho :-)

How do I stop the engine from running hot ? or is this not possible ? It seems to be running hotter with this 1.5" than with the 1 1/4" carbie.

Would it be running hotter if too rich ?

Cooling system is running fine as far as i know.

(Also, it kinda flat spots for a second, then kicks in....if I plant my foot in 2nd and 3rd gear)

What do the plugs say? are they clean, black or brown?

Clean (with maybe some white spots) = Lean
Black and wet = ritch
Brown = Pretty darn close so don't bother changing it.

That reminds me i must chack NAV's plugs. Gap etc.

If it's running fine leave it.
