Yeah you can fit seats from other cars. I've got GTV seats now, but I swear they must weigh 40Kg each! Too heavy- and they do sit high- I make it too easy for other people like James Be to catch me with this much weight to lug around...

Geez, all this makes my OBX buckets look like a steal at $500 the pair brand new.... bought em from EMTECH in adelaide, he'll ship em out too for a bit extra......

ps, they're only 8kg each....

I sat in a high back, fixed bucket AutoTechnica one at Autobarn, was $329, looked cool but I'd need to go to Jenny Craig to fit. And I'm not real big..

I'm not going `racing'- just `track days' at Wakefield Pk, and maybe some Club sprints.

And I'd like enough comfort that I can drive 200 miles without needing a chiropractor afterwards. And, I do drive this thing daily.

Saw lots of prettier seats at Revolution, but my budget won't allow $700-800 per seat... :?

<edit> I'm off to look at BIG BALLS Motorsport now, I'll see how big their nuts are... :P

Dont get me wrong mate, I'm all for low back, my Cobra Cubs are low back, but there are just some drawbacks to consider especialy since you mentioned track days. Also support wise low backs are no match for any decent modern high back seat (I'm always amazed at how suportive the seats are when I'm driving my dads 626).

Btw the autotechnica appear to me as pretty crappy seats - but yea your two round mates do get introduced to each other rather too closely in some of the proper fixed buckets.

YOU MIGHT CONSIDER MX5 buckets - I mean to me they are perfect comfort and support wise and are from a very small car already so they are compact - I was going to buy a pair from a guy in Brisbane and burgained him down tor $200 but then decided to get my Cobras - you could have his number if he still hasnt sold them.

Cheers.

Anybody using the Cobra Clubman seats? These are like the Classics, but a little higher, with belt slots..

I agree, the AutoTechnica seats do look and feel cheap. I was going to get a SAAS but can't find any at reasonable price.

Also found some fibreglass shell seats and covers at Big Balls Motorsport (God, I love that name, haha).
$100 each, + padded covers $100 each. Pity they are not `approved' for road use... :P

and thats for a reason u sit in one for more than 20mins and you get like you've been in them for hours and especialy when acceling and bracking and the bumps are a killer DO NOT USE FOR TRACK RACES OR TRACK DAYS (pain lots of pain  ) these are designed to use on drag cars for wieght and NOT for long peiriods of time these do get very uncomftorble in a short amount of time and the cushins help but not a great deal

p.s just my view :D

Cheers for that!

I agree, but they might be OK on club sprints etc. I wouldn't want to drive from here to wakefield Pk in one..

Kev,

I dont mean to be a downer in any way....but those cobra classics are cheap for a reason. I love the look of them and they suit minis to a T. However i often ride in a mates mini that has them in the front and it's really not very comfortable. I find that every bump we hit i feel like i'm gonna go through the floor cos the padding is so soft. What really annoys me though is everytime we're cornering hard i can feel the diagonal bar that connects the seat back and base digging into my ribs. Now, this could just be a problem with the soft cloth covering material used and if you got some of the vinyl ones they might be better. They're really good for the money, but expect some bruises on track days. Try to get a ride in a car with some fitted before you buy. :)

Hmmmm- I better sit in some more seats then!

I might borrow one for the next track day- Baracade offered to lend me one.

My car is hydro so it doesn't ride like a kidney bruiser, but I want SOME padding....

the autotechnica seats are garbage...honestly, we sell them at work an i dont rate them at all. Also unless your a rather narrow, they're a pretty tight squeeze The saas enforcer seats are awesome though. Having sit in them i definately give them the thumbs up....only downside is price tag

I like WRX seats, or wouldnt mind the buckets from my Trueno, or even Swift GTI seats arent to bad:)
