Does anyone know the compression value of a 998 engine.
I'm getting 71 psi on the first stroke and a final reading of 138 psi on all the cylinders.
thanks Felix

That's a bit low.....

JAM was getting 165 prior to recent rebuild.

My $100 special 77 Clubby is getting 155 and runs well enough.

My 1100 is getting 125 on all four. I know it is low but at least it is constant (and has been for seven years)

the compression values i obtained were taken with the engine cold as there is no manifold on the engine.would a cold engine cause the low values

Hi Anton,
can you give me the details of your trimmer.
I only need the front seats redone in the original bone coloured material
thanks Felix

A cold engine will give higher values ...so when hot it will be significantly lower l

A relativly chick check is to put a small bit of machine oil down the plug hole and do a wet test, if compression improves, shows a very worn engine.
