I reckon black would be do-able, but you'd want to throw some metallic in it as a pure black colour WILL show all the lack of prep - pretty much impossible to do well without a big garage, lots and lots of time and patience. I think you'd probably regret it, whereas making it metallic will hide some of the inevitable flaws. And look more professional and 'show worthy'.

Incidentally, next time you're walking past a Ford XR6 in black (or any pure black car, new or old), have a good look at the paint. The reflection will show that the whole paint job has orange peel. Try the same with a metallic car - the finish looks better, much better.

even better, paint it matt black - hides everything, then throw on clear with some house of kolor flakes in, looks awesome! BLING but subtle. 8)

Proper panel prep prevents piss poor paint jobs :D
The final finish will reflect the panel prep underneath

oh yeah sorry i forgot to mention, when you buy a compressor the thing you want to look for is how long it takes to build up pressure, not ness how many horse power, eg. my compressor is 2.5hp and 40L, but it does 112L per min but i've been told that you will prob need one that does 150-200L per min.
we have 2 hp ones at work that build up pressure faster then ones with 2.5hp....always check to see how many litres per min it does

arround 10cfm is good...

another (cheeper) option is to buy two cheep 2hp 40L compressors for about $100 each, join the outlets together with a 'T" piece and two short leingths of hose, attach a moisture trap and pressure regulator at this point (run both compressors at full pressure), attach hose to end of regulator, easy. 4hp, 80l and arround 220 litres per minute.
Oh, and its cheeper than buying a single compressor of the same output...stupid huh.

10cfm is only good if the gun you're using doesnt require more than that

With what i use, 10cfm is crap
