What amperage do i need for the starter circuit? Is it 20A or 30A?

the button IS a low amp (<10A) button....
I so need to go... button, relay, solenoid, starter?
button -> solenoid -> starter... no need for a relay
what you're doing is going half way to converting your car from a push button start to a key start... instead of the key you're putting a fancy button on the floor.
steps to follow - I just don't remember how the main +'ve gets to the ignition switch, doesn't matter much...
get a solenoid off off a clubman or whatever, and mount it in the engine bay near the starter motor
take the existing big power lead off the starter motor and put it on one side of the solenoid, and run a short cable from the other side to the starter motor
pull out the existing floor button, connect the 2 bits of fat wire together and wrap tape around them, and secure them to the underside of the floor somehow
mount your fancy button whereever the hell you want it, and run a power (from ignition or permanent +'ve) wire to one side of it, then from the other side to the spade connector on the side of the soleniod
push the button
