hi guys and girls i have just bought all new ball joint for my car i was wondering sould i pre grease them first or should i just fill them by the grease nipple and when filling by the grease nipple how do i know how much to put in.

Well if they have grease nipples....I would have thought they would already have some grease in there already....the nipple is to service regulary....if you want to play safe....squirt a small amount of grease in the nipple and see if you immediately get a discharge :oops: :D

When torquing up the ball joint to check the shim thickness, this should all be done dry. If you have it greased up you will throw off your shim thickness measurements.

Once all assembled and torqued up, then apply the grease :)

Fill until it squrts out from the ball joint or the nipple

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TO MUCH LUBE......

wipe away the excess after...

Be careful that it doesn't become hydraulic though - if there is nowhere for the grease to escape then it will get harder and harder to pump grease into the ball-joint until something gives way under the pressure
