Because you are limited to 'road warrior' use. S discs aren't crud, they just aren't capable of the same braking force and longevity of the metro set ups.

For 10 inch wheels? We are talking 10 inch right?

Metro turbos do fit under some 10" rims

Theres some 3 peice split 10" rims that fit metro turbos under, I had some pics but can't find them at the moment. I'll have another look for them. A bloke in the uk (or was it the us) makes them.

I take it you got them from MiniSport in Adelaide?

The look completely different to the ones I got from there and my mate that is a cheif CNC machiner/engineer says they are extremely well constructed.

Yes, I have to mod the pads to fit them to the callipers. The pads are for Metro calipers and all you have to do it take a 3-4mm corner off each pad so that there is not overhang outside the calipers themselves. I don't see how this would create any inssue in terms of safety, etc??? My mate agrees with this as well.

4 spot calipers......

Thanks Morphias...
We do have to modify pads on the MiniSpares calipers as morphias has said, (I don’t see any safety issues either, nor does a customer who is an engineer)

I have never had any problem getting a pedal with K.A.D calipers and in my honest opinion your pedal wasn’t too bad (not the best i have ever seen but certainly acceptable)

I will put it out to anyone who has purchased K.A.D's calipers to please PM me if they have had any pedal problems and i will contact K.A.D regarding any queries then post you all with any answers...

I am sorry that you where not happy with the calipers, we have plenty who are.
But also understand they are made by/for MINISPARES UK, not by us, and I guess these are made to a price, unlike K.A.D.

Unfortuantly K.A.Ds 4 spot calipers will not fit under 10 inch wheels.

Thanks for your time.

...And willy's money.

On modding pads....

By cutting off the outer edge of the pad, aren't you reducing/cutting off the most effective part of the braking surface :?:

If you cut off the outer edge of the pad then you are only removing the most effective part of the braking surface if it is actually going to come in contact with the brake disc when braking. if it is off the edge of the disc then it doesn't matter.

Yes i agree if we where talking about a large area...From memory we are talking about 3-5mm.......its just the outer edge/lip.....

As i stated before......WE DO NOT MAKE THEM! and we have never had anyone complain regarding these before and we will continue selling them , we will however inform people on time of purchase about there "FLAWS"

We will suggest some mods/impovements to minispares...dont think much will happen

they are (all that we are aware of) that will fit under 10inch rims, that dont cost a fortune......

Hey willy, this is not good mate, i would like to see some pics if i could???

I also have the minispares 4 pot calipera and are for 7.5 inch discs and i have machined down 8.4 vented discs to 7.5in.

I wonder if there is a difference in this as i had to fit a spacer in the middle of the caliper to widen the caliper to fit the vented disc so i cant see why they would be different. see dark section in middle of caliper.

Image
as you can see from how dirty the under side of the car is these calipers have been on the car at this point for over 500km and there is no evidence of the caliper hitting anything

I have lowered my mini too but still they are no where near the tie/caster bar. i also have a fantastic pedal feel with minimal play, just make sure you have good clevis pins too as this can cause big play in the mechanical area before the master cyl even travels.

I have also spoken to a few people who have had a bad time trying to bleed the air from the caliper (i did not have any real problem) but i do know people who had to use a suction pump on the nipple or a a pressure pump on the master cyl to force the air out and after doing this they had great improvment.

I hvae nothing but praise for these brakes.

and the best thing is I have found a common 10inch wheel that will go over them.

Poor form Stuwey! :(

We are talking one corner off each pad that is a triangle that is around 3mm x 3mm x 3mm. This will have ZERO effect on the braking performance.
