I just got my new rotors for the LS today from eBay and i noticed that there are no studs in them.

Should i get new ones and screw them in or try to get out the old ones???
I think i may need on of those 1/2" sockets with the rollers inside, which i don't have.

Nah, you can use the old ones if you need to, you need to tap, tap, tap them out with a soft mallett.
They are simply held in by a press grip on splines, just tap them backwards through the disc flange. If you get new ones, the disc studs are slightly longer than the standard drum type.

hmmmm...I have heard of studs developing hairline cracks from being removed and replaced.

Personally, with new rotors I would DEFINITELY buy new studs.

Up to you though.......

Don't the LS brakes have the studs in the drive flanges- not the rotors like S did? :?
I have Josh's new ones here..... the 8.4" drive flanges have the studs.

The doc is right, they have the studs in the drive flange and the flange bolts to the disc.

aaaaahhhhh....so now I know, are they still held in the same way?

I've always re-used them with no ill affects, although I have broken one or two before. When I pull them back through, I don't whap 'em back in, I pull them through using the wheel nut nice and gentle, maybe this is where hairline cracks develop if you're not kind to them.

These have threads tapped in them as per pic....

If the studs are attached to the drive flange then have i bought the wrong rotors?

no, you've got the right rotors, those threads are where the drive flange bolts on.... ;)
