Make sure your replacement button can handle the current draw from your starter..... we dont want to start a fire, do we

JFTR - SC850 has a master cut off switch at that location. The start button is getting relocated or maybe exchanged for a starter solenoid and morris key start.... A master cut off switch is good for security 8)

I thought of putting a `red key' master switch where the button is (850 shell), but canned the idea- the switch body is just plastic and would be just above the 2" exhaust.. melted live battery cable dropped onto the ex pipe is not a good vision..
If you want a switch there make sure it's going to stand the heat...

How about a Red one...and you push it and it Glows...Then When you turn the Key it Flashes. Now this would have to be around 2" in Diameter....For the untrained Eye.....They may think the Car inabout to Explode :P

They are comming thick and fast now...How Bout a James Bond Style...Instead of a Centre Console Arm rest with Buttons and Lights, You could have a Little pannel on the right of the steering wheel with the buttons and flashing lights.. 8)

i did actually have the idea that when you turn the ignition on, the button lights up and one the engine starts, the light goes out...

but then... it make it easier for a stupid thief to start the car .. :?

When me mate did up his RX3 13BT, He had a push button starter from Jaycar I think, the key would be turned to on, then he had a little circut wired through a reed switch and relay, he hid the reed switch behind the the front of his dash near the gauges. So to start the car you needed to brush a magnet up against the dash to close the reed switch, this then closed the realy and allowed the push button starter to start the car. Was quite clever.
