Your best bet is to get yours fixed, even if it needs a recore.
Most probably it just needs the tanks taken off, rod the tubes out and refit the tanks. About $100 at most radiator repair shops.

A 77 Clubby S has the top hose going to the back of top tank, near the rad cap. The new UK made ones sold here are not like this, at least none I've seen.

New 3 core, S one is worth about 140 as seen on ebay at 'buy it now', I jsut ordered myself a 'hi-flow' 2-core from karcraft (from karcraft becasue it was cheaper to get it posted than to buy one from minisport  ) which cost 250 I think. 3 core is adequate on a stock 1275 but I believe in somewhat over doing it. So that there is no chance or very little of overheatinbg in 40 degree heat. Check other things, radiator would make the biggest difference, other things include, leaks (which cause the pressure to drop), fan on the wrong way, ignition not being too retarded, wrong type of radiator cap, and the fitment of an expansion tank (which would reduce or eliminate radiator overflowing)

I run one of those. It has already shaken the side bracket from the top tank (is just soldered, has no rivets).
They have less fins than your old one. And, the top hose location is wrong for a 77S, unless you change the thermostat housing <edit> and bracket for an earlier one, and lose the air pump (if fitted).
<edit> 77clubmnS, it CAN be recored, new cores are available still. Any radiator shop, or Natra radiators. But get it checked first.
Also check the thermostat, it may have stuck and caused the problem. Mine did last week.
