Some suspension theory....
Most vehicles (including a Mini) have their suspension's balljoint (or kingpin) inclination angle set up to minimise tyre scrub when turning.
The distance from the centre of the tyre contact patch to a line extended thru the balljoints is called the scrub radius.
For good steering and minimal kickback on bumps, potholes etc this distance should be minimised.
In fact, Volkswagen used to advertise negative scrub radius, for stability if you accidentally got a wheel in the gravel.
Apart from putting horrendous loads on your wheel bearings, dramatic wheel offset this wide (the Jap 10" ones) throws the whole concept of scrub radius out the window.
On anything other than a dead smooth road, it will steer like a dog.
