Hi all,
Is it possible to get stronger gearboxes for a worked 1100cc engine?? or stronger gears etc to fit in the existing one??
dont want to have to pull my engine n gearbox out yet again in a year to rebuild the gearbox once again!

Kazjim was running a standard box on a Turbo 998.

He never broke anything.

Should be fine if you are kind to it.

its a daily driver too any it does alot of km's everyday, approx 40-50kms a day. would wear and tear do this?? its got a heavy duty clutch in it and i treat the gearbox very well, never crunch gears either.

Mine does about 500km a week and has not had a problem in 5 years running, so I think there may have been something wrong with your box to start with.
Cheers Pete

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mini-Cooper-S-MkII-4-Speed-All-Synchromesh-Gearbox_W0QQitemZ120110509812QQihZ002QQcategoryZ32072QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

dude tiny does exactly 60kms a day during the week plus extra driving duringthe weekend and the only issue i have is i have to double clutch 2nd gear or it will grind and thats cause the synchro was never fixed when the engine and gearbox was rebuilt before i bought him, juz gotta be gentle

well obviously a 1275 cooper s engine has more ponies than a worked 1100cc engine so the gearbox would be stronger in the cooper s wouldnt it?? i dont kno much about gearboxes sorry...im learning

Basically the same gearbox for Cooper S 1275s and normal Mini 1100s. Same casing and most gears (just different ratios).
Don't buy that gearbox on Ebay far too dear, it's probably worth $150 max in my opinion. Get your gearbox rebuilt properly. Very expensive but most Mini stuff is.

What TK said ^^^.
The only difference between Mk2 S gears, and Mini-K gears, and A series rodchange gears, is the Cooper S has 1 more tooth on the 1st motion shaft, and the cluster gear had it's `big gear' teeth cut to suit (p/no 22G1040).
No, the S ones are no stronger. Just 1st, 2nd and 3rd are a little higher geared- so less rev drop to 4th.
