More reliable, doesn't 'kick off' when trying to start, if your ring gear is buggered it is OK cos it engages from the other side (i think).

Mine spins the 1275 with ease about twice as fast as ye olde lucas did.

Ummm...

So is better.

I don't know how long it takes for your car to tick over but it sounds like you have other serious issues if you're worried about the prolonged sound of a starter!!

Sounds like a starter motor....

But no whirring from a worn out bendix gear, and no noise as it tries to engage and doesn't. No extra noise as it tries to start then disengages the first time one spark plug fires.

A rebuilt lucas would probably work fairly well too, although I have been told that if your engine has trouble with cold starting, the inertia starter isn't as good even if new.

The starter is only ever on for a few seconds, why would the noise of it ever be a problem unless its like a jet engine starting up??

If you fit a Pulsar dizzy the starter will not have to work as hard.

I have a late model starter from A+ and it is no more quieter or noisier than Graham's gemini ones.

Here we are arguing about noise when we all want to put in big webers and 2" exhausts... If you are worried about starter noise then you better start thinking about quiting your auto hobby...

$70 cheaper too

Yours is an aftermarket pre-engaged starter, not an A+ one.
A+ takes a different size ring gear.
