i got a couple of pot joint driveshafts to go in the warrior with the new 127hp 113ftlb engine, but when i cleaned up the drivers side (long one) it looks as though it may have been previously broken and welded up. you can see grind marks on it

I think i would rather get another one that has never been broke before. Opinions anyone?

If really is welded and ground I'd look for another shaft...
Are you sure they are not chatter marks from the CV running at full lock and shaft hitting outer CV body, maybe because used with a UK Mk2 rack? I've seen some funny marks on there before.

I just looked at a set i have and it does not look anywhere near that :shock:
I'd get another one just in case

its so hard to tell if it has been welded, but it definitely looks like marks from an agle grinder.

how much damage gets done when one does break?

how much of a PITA is it to fix?

i'm still going with initial instinct and i will now return to the garage to fit the hub sans shaft in the meantime.

When they break it happens where that collar is. It breaks at the groove.
Not too hard to fix once you remove balls and cage, get the inner part of CV out and bash the remains of axle out.
