Doc, was it the same hedge for both of you?
I'm surprised when I hear people with large feet saying it's hard to heel and toe, given it's usually more ball-of-foot-and-side-of-foot. So, in that case, if you've got a wide foot, it should be easier to reach both pedals at once.

So the standard problem should be that you can't hit the brakes without hitting the gas?
I've bought a clip on pedal (Hopkirk style, but not a Hopkirk). Even without the Hopkirk, I had hit both the accelerator and the brake at the same time (only size 10 shoes). For me, I think it was mainly to do with adjusting to driving a Mini again, and positioning myself in the seat properly, in order to be able to hit the brake without hitting the throttle. I don't find the Hopkirk a hindrance, though. In fact, I find it helps with heel-toe. And my wife needed it, because her heel couldn't touch the floor with her toes on the throttle without the Hopkirk style pedal.
