Heya fellas,

Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of pedal is used on this Monte Carlo Rally mini:

I've never seen such a long, thin pedal before. Looks like just the thing i need for my big feet.

that looks like they welded some more metal on,
you can get a "paddy hopkirk" pedal or something similar from any good mini shop

I actually already have a paddy hopkirk, but my foot is so mammoth that I can't heel and toe with it properly (edge of my foot gets stuck on the lip of the pedal)

I think i'll take it off this weekend and bend down the inner edge of it a little to make it easier for me to roll my foot. I do like the look of that Monte Carlo pedal though, so basic yet stylish :)

We had a Paddy Hopkirk style one on Barney, we took it off after both Wendy and I nearly put him through a hedge.
Getting GO when you wanted WHOA is not a nice feeling.
These pedals are a waste of time, IMO.

I'm size 14-15 feet and once you get used to it = No probs with the paddy hopkirk pedal.

Now how do you get the accell. pedal as high as in the pic above I wonder. Coz every single one I've seen is lower than the brake pedal which makes downshifting a pain.

I've had the same experience. Accidentally touching the edge of the accellerator pedal as i've been braking.

I'm tempted to take a paddy hopkirk and do some modifications on it. Should be pretty easy.

Doc, was it the same hedge for both of you?
I'm surprised when I hear people with large feet saying it's hard to heel and toe, given it's usually more ball-of-foot-and-side-of-foot. So, in that case, if you've got a wide foot, it should be easier to reach both pedals at once. :? So the standard problem should be that you can't hit the brakes without hitting the gas? :?
I've bought a clip on pedal (Hopkirk style, but not a Hopkirk). Even without the Hopkirk, I had hit both the accelerator and the brake at the same time (only size 10 shoes). For me, I think it was mainly to do with adjusting to driving a Mini again, and positioning myself in the seat properly, in order to be able to hit the brake without hitting the throttle. I don't find the Hopkirk a hindrance, though. In fact, I find it helps with heel-toe. And my wife needed it, because her heel couldn't touch the floor with her toes on the throttle without the Hopkirk style pedal.

For me it is more to do with navigating my foot into the correct position in order to roll my foot. Because my foot is big, and i have cramped pedals in the way, i find it hard to navigate my foot into the perfect location to get the roll right.

Most of the time i'll go to roll onto the accell. and i'll just scrape the edge of the pedal which pushes it out of the way a little rather than pushing it down.

I deal with it by just not doing the roll foot technique. If i need to brake and double clutch at the same time i just do quick brake/accell foot switches.

I have no trouble heeling and toeing on either Mini, no need for the *&$&# pedal extension.
My `matic has the 50% bigger pedal than the manuals do, it's plenty big enough for my size 9s. 8)
