Morris has picked up a nasty smoking habit. Blue smoke = oil I guess. He is also missing/starving when going round right hand bends.
This is sounding very sinister to me ?
Any thoughts. Something broken inside ???

Thought it might be brake fluid leaking into the servo and getting burned via the vacuum hose.

I would take the top of the carby float bowl and clean it out, check float (any fluid in it?) and float height, and water in fuel / float bowl bottom?

Check fuel pump output, measure flow rate into a jug?

Also do normal checks on compression, points gap, plugs etc?

:P

didnt u juz put a new cam in the engine matt? blue smoke sounds odd but the missing around corners sounds like not enough fuel... happen to me when i put the new carby on for a while till i realised that the old carby had been modified with a bigger needle and jet so compensate with the cam? possible problem.. when u say he blows blue smoke how often?

What Graham was saying was look for obvious things.....the vac line to boosted cars is a common one....a vacuum/breather line off, split or blocked is another possibility.

You could also have two unrelated problems :!: check the fuel lines from the carbys right back to the tank(s)...I suppose you could also have a fuel pump thats on the way out...next

When you swapped the heads did you scrape ALL the carbon off the pistons? If you did, it may be the cause of the oil smoke- the carbon on the edge of the piston crown can act as a seal against oil burning once motor has a few miles up.
If so, it will come good once it carbons up a bit.

It could also be the valve guides letting oil get sucked down if worn- I always put valve stem seals on the inlets now, even on old smallbore heads that never had proper ones originally.

Always nice to have the full story...aye Doc :!:

Maybe Ausmini should get a change of format so that all the problems with a particular car/engine are in the one place

it has driven quite a lot of miles since the head change and started doing this today. thought it might have been internal and drastic to come on so suddenly.
