Finally set up a hosting page, so here are a few clearer pics:
Ouch! - doesn't look too bad from this angle because I hit square on
"Don't call me hooknose" [Life of Brian] - btw the pinstripe use to be straight
Front left - torn scuttle seam, popped seam cover, etc
front right is now shaped more like the rear (sorry for sideways - next time I'll know to rotate before uploading

)
Oh my aching lights (sorry again for the angle)
So here's what happened... peak hour, King Street, Melbourne CBD, Clearway Zone, heading west about 5 minutes after sunset
The two right lanes were coming to a stop, I'm in the left (curbside Clearway lane) with about another half a block open in front of me, about a half car length behind the car in the lane to the right of me, so I start to brake lightly to wipe off a bit of speed as I continue up the left lane beside the other two stopped lanes.
As my front bumper is about level with the car to my right's rear door, a Magna station wagon that has come the opposite way up King street and turned right comes out from the front of the car beside me on my right
I was still probaly doing around 50kph and I can remember thinking as I increased the pressure on the brake that "this is going to be big ... I don't want to do this" as I hit him square in the front wheel - the rest, as they say, is now history
