Anyone got a pic of original Mk 1 Cooper S seats and door cards? I am trying to work out what pattern the stitching was.

Ta.

Early Mk1 S seats were same as Mini Deluxe, not sure about the door cards.

I believe seven stripes as well, no different.

If the style was the same as the Deluxe, my car is a Nov 65 Deluxe - it has seats like the second picture, and door cards and rear cards like the (EDIT) the picture of the grey vinyl below.(EDIT).

The first pic that you have posted is Mk2 Cooper S and Mini K , the second is early Mk1 Cooper S and Deluxe , which changed to pattern shown below , in 1966 sometime ( the 3rd pic you posted looks correct)

thank you.

I was confused between Mk 2 / Mini K trim and Mk 1 / Deluxe trim.

They are kinda similar to a square person.

Some very late Mk1's can be found with Mk2 trim and other Mk2 parts , unofficially called Mk1 and a half by some people I believe

We had a April 65 deluxe, same seats and colour as in your second pic. Door cards and rear cards were a little different. Just went downstairs and dragged them out, sorry about their grubbiness.

The ones marked are from our car and the other rear card ( the only one I have ) is also from a 65 deluxe.

Does anyone know if it is possible to source the mk1 cooper s carpet ?

I think it was called "westminster" and apparently it was made of goats hair ?

Was mk 2 carpet special or wasw it just a basic loop pile ?

Also , anyone know of motor trimmers to make carpet set for mini and upholster seats to mk2 specification ?. I am located in Sydney.

I borrowed a template set from our good friend 'Mick', and had my trimmer in Syd make a loop pile carpet set for my GT.

The pattern templates are correct for GT, and Mk 2 S. Maybe Mk 1 S too.... not 100% sure.

My trimmer made copies of the templates. He's in NW Sydney. Can PM address if you want a trimmer in that area.

Depends which year Mk1 you are talking about . The following info is from another post of mine :

According to Rover Australia , Cooper S cars from start of production in August 1965 thru to November 1965 had a loop pile carpet , sourced from New Zealand . From December 1965 thru to late 1968 , they had a ribbed Westminster style carpet , which was made in Australia . From late 1968 thru to end of production in July 1971 , the cars had a loop pile carpet , again sourced from New Zealand..........Mk1 carpets came in a variety of colours to match the trim and paint . Mk2 carpets were mostly black which had a tendency to fade to a dark green colour over time .................All Cooper S carpets were made to the same pattern

The Westminster type is available from The Gibbon Group in Qld , and is called Tretford , tel number 07 38811777 . Its quite expensive at $75 / Metre plus GST plus baling fee $29.50 plus delivery fee ... You will need 4-5 metres

Cheers ............
