Cos your car is over thirty years old, they will usually only pay the "book" value. You may want to look at the fine print, full comp with the major insurers on a mini is usually a waste of time and money.

Check it out.

Matt (PS Shannons all the way, they rule!)

   Are you for real?

Ask them about 'laid-up' cover - fully insured whilst it is in the shed, or on the trailer. It is too cheap not to do.

I must say i am quite surprised that you don't have it covered :!:

Me too....

So much time effort money on something that cannot easily be replaced if lost..

mad-mk1, is insured for that amount, laid up cover, covers it for in teh shed , when its at a show, when its on a trailer etc

:D I'm with shannons.... 8) .....full comp, no stuffing you around, made it really easy when it came time to insure my wifes car on the same policy and it only went up by $20 or $30 a year. My wifes car is on club rego so is cheaper. costs about $350 or $360 per year. They will also let you do the pay by the month thing too.

The two things that impress me about Shannons are:

1. one free windscreen replacement per year (if necessary)

2. you get the cash and you keep the wreck in the event that your car is written off

The price was comparable to RACV

only if your mods are the cause of the accident.
its seriously a bad idea not to insure your car, imagine if your shed caught on fire or something.

Yeah, agree with this. My 77 Leyland is insured with RACQ atm due to them handing me an instant rating one since I've been on my wife's policy for so long. It's insured for market value, which is less than I paid. They weren't interested in negotiating a reasonable agreed value at the time. It's cheap though.. ~$300pa for full comp.

One of the things on my [long] list of todo's is switch it over to Shannon's. It may be more expensive, but at least I'll get something meaningful (read: fair) from them if the worst happens.
