Well, we made it to Wyong... and what an adventure that was.
We had drama on two fronts, both caused by the weather. Firstly my flight into Newcastle was delayed landing, because an extreme storm had hit the airport. After half an hour of circling, the pilot made a remarkably smooth landing in a break in the storm, and then commented "
Welcome to Newcastle, I'm sure glad we're on the ground". I don't know about anyone else, but when the
pilot is glad to be on the ground,
I definitely am.
Guess that's why they get paid the big bux
It took another 45 minutes sitting on the tarmac before they let us off, because the weather delayed the other plane occupying the terminal, preventing it from leaving. Let's fly JetStar!!
Anyway, turns out the weather caused the Mini a drama or two as well. Coming through the torrential rain produced a major squeal under the bonnet, followed by a blink or two of the ignition warning light. Had Dad worried, but turns out it was just the water causing the fan belt to slip a bit. It dried out at the airport waiting for me, and it's all good now. So here we are in Wyong.
Now, on to fuel economy, the reason for this thread

In total, between Broadbeach and the last fill at Coolongolook (near Forster, NSW), the car did 602 km on 36.7 litres. That's 6.1 L/100km
Wow

That's _much_ better than I expected...
Tomorrow we aim for Myrtleford, via the Snowy's if we have time.
