hi, how hard is it to get a diff ratio under 3.44. i'm wanting a diff for the highway. i have noticed that some diff ratios only suit a+ gearbox casings. will they fit both.

Yes the A+ ones will fit both boxes but teeth angles are different so you need both the pinion and crownwheel.

No minis were sold here with lower than a 3.44.

yes i run a 3.2:1 with my 1510cc engine & it`s good for that but you really need to have the grunt to pull such a tall gear.

I actually hate small engines with tall gearing, it just makes them dohey pigs :-)

& just so you don`t get all reved up & set up & ready to go for the swap only to come to a grinding halt,,,, you will need the larger diameter bearing retainer to fit the larger pinion gear into... The later type retainer for use with the tall gear set are made with a bigger hole in the guts so the big pinion gear fits & also utilises only 3 of the 4 "usual" mounting bolts.

oky-doky???

:-)

Read that again...grinding it out is a dog of a job! although, a drum sander on a press helps.
