My clutch is slipping - but the clutch seems to be fine

However the clutch slave return position - ie the position the slave returns to after the clutch pedal is released seems too extended. ( I know what I mean). The spring is retracting the slave however it reaches hyraulic resitance and stops. If turn the stop bolt and disconnect the slave there is a lot movement left in the arm.

The slave is newish - 12 months old - is it adjustable?

Is it a case of resetting the slave pin by open the valve and readjusting the pin default position or am I barking up the wrong wooden leg?

The slave itself needs no adjustment.

You mentioned turning the stop bolt. If it is hitting that, then it is not hydraulic resistance, it's the stop that needs adjustment.

Is the clutch arm bent or straight ? They are meant to be straight but people bend them when the hydraulics get tired or the pivot wears . I'm guessing your's might be bent so far that it won't allow the arm to reach the stop because the pin is bottoming out in the slave cylinder .

Some people Image have been known to extend the clutch slave pin by welding a bit onto it to take up the slack in a worn clutch arm assembly. Could be bottoming out inside the slave cylinder.

But if the arm and gubbins arent worn and the PO had welded an extension onto the slave pin that was used on the previous rooted setup - then would ut cause my symptoms ? The pin does have about a bit welded to the end

Sounds like it.
Got an unmolested pin? Or just grind yours back to original.
(you have a welder so you can always make it longer again)

It will be the clutch hose. When they die they work as an effective one way valve.
