Just decided to pull the petrol pump apart and 'transistorize' the points so as to prolong their life by reducing point burn. Found out it was already done - those cleaver New Zealanders

Any way long story I pulled the business end off first by mistake. and exposed the fairly stiff plasticy diaphragm. when I put it back together should I 'help' the seal by putting some sort of gasket cement around the edge?

I didn't last time I did the same job and it worked fine no leaks (the diaphragm was good). There's a lot of screws around its periphery.

a couple of weeks ago I had to file my points for the first time in a few years - I dug out the circuit you gave me and put it closer to the top of my todo list

This is not a Lucas pump - It looks original but is made in New Zealand and it is all black plastic. There were two fairly small screws in the back end that looked like all they were doing was holding on a yellow plastic ID number and the join between what turned out to be the end cover and the body looked like it was all moulded as one piece. I figured undo all these screws and some how it will come apart

Didn't have to add the transistor as it was manufactured with the circuit in it.(could tell by the way it was put together)
