How does the outback go at towing?
I got the Outback as good compromise of a road car vs 4wd. (and had an Imprezza before this)
I have the 2.5 manual with "low" range and auto levelling rear suspension...
Goes great up and down the Hume from Canberra to Sydney - doesn't struggle anywhere.
Is happy cruising along at the speed limit. (and will pull well up hill - passed a few people who give you a second look being overtaken uphill towing the mini.)
That said I'm probably getting close to the specified limits of what's possible when I'm loaded up with all the tools and spares etc. but has been OK. Possibly sitting a little low in the rear.
There is a steepish hill in Paramatta with traffic lights at the top.... getting stuck here in peak hour traffic is the only time it's complained ... clutch didn't like the stop start uphill with the trailer.....( I think took 3 changes to get through the lights )
Haven't tried to negotiate any other roads with the Mini on the back .... but did do a trip to the Gong to pick up my work ramps (ex wheel aligner) - heavy but not as much as the mini... and no probs with Macquarie Pass. (admittedly light going down)
