Aussie Racks have 2.5 turns lock to lock, Pommie is 2.7 turns..

Sportspack coopers came with a shortened rack...possibly a 2.5 rack?

Difference between the two is also the steering arms...

The last thing you need to worry about is having the wheels rub on the inner guard. When they rub on the outside, thats when you need to take action.

My Mazda doesnt need a handbrake, I just turn full lock and the car wont budge.

You'll never turn full lock while driving at speed anyway.

The "standard" rack for UK Minis is the same as the aussie ones (turns lock-to-lock and turning circle).

--- BUT ---

If it was a later Cooper with the Sports Pack option (wider arches and 13x6 rims instead of the 12's) then it was fitted with a modified rack that limited the turning circle so that the inside rear corner of the tyre didn't rub on the inner guard. However the Aussie Performance 13x7 Supellites that we are running have a "deeper dish" offset that makes the tyre sit further out and they don't have this problem with the standard rack.

HTH Mr Mutant (John)

John, UK Mk2 rack is 2.7 turns and gives tighter turning circle, but uses MK2 arms. Oz rack was 2.25 turns

hey fellas, i currently run 10x4.5 mini mags jelly bean type. but i wanna move up to a 13x7 or 13x8. Pretty much as high as u can go. Someone mentioned if u had spaced drums on the front? i have spaced drums, so im guessing i should be ok with 13x7 or 13x8s fitting correctly. If u have to cut, its just the wheel arch right?

peace
