can you fit one with engine in car from underneath on hoist?
if it can be done what else should you be replacing.

what time frame we looking at up on the hoist.

i bet this has been asked before

You don't need a hoist, work down in the engine bay, about 3hours it can be done.

And when would these need to be replaced? I not sure of the condition of mine,
Can it lead to bigger damage if say the clutch plate or the release bearing fails?

I heard The People's Republic do a good one.

Not tried a PRC one, but the Japs do a bad one.

Timken 3W5-8 flat one is the best, all the later ones are a poor substitute.

ahhhh ive done this several times in the last couple of weeks.

disconnect battery

undo the engine mounts at top on both sides.

remove starter motor, remove coil, remove earth strap.

undo engine mount underneath clucth housing

jack car up, put blocks underneath the gearbox

lower car down, make sure your fan blade dont hit your radiator or you got to many blocks under the gearbox.

then your read to take the housing off from above, UNLESS you have that one bolt in that will hit the subframe, always replace with a short bolt or leave it out when you put it back together

you can get the flywheel off inside the car too given you have a puller for it.

reverse to put it back together.

mines a Verto 1994 converted to carby engine.

im not sure what Clutch i need. there seems to be a few on mini spares.
im about to do a big order so ill grab it from there also.

Nick, you can replace worn verto clutch with std verto replacement parts,,,, or you can swap the whole lot over to "pre-Verto",,,(Hmmm sounds kinky "Preverto") But the "Whole" lot would need swapping out,,,flywheel, backplate, clutch plate, throw-out bearing, carrier, arm, etc etc etc

It`s all your choice,,, but the pre-verto (early) assembly is just lighter in weight if you were keen for more accelleration,,, that`s all

& would definately replace the oil seal & the throw-out bearing either way
