Only problem there is, the 940 chamber is only 21.4cc- it takes forever to get them out to 28cc (as mine is now...)
You do gain a couple though with the notching of the block.

A 202 head is 26.1 to start with, a 295 is 28.3.

So an unshaved 295 head with dished pistons on a small bore 1100 or 998 would be fine for a Turbo.

Compression would be too low normally aspirated.

so let me get this straight.. theres enough meat in the head to take to it with a die grinder to bring it out to 28mL?

anyone got any pictures by where they mean to grind it out?

i dont want to touch the rest of the head or the valves, just get enough volume in my engine to drop the compression enough to whack a turbo on (on the cheap)

what would be the compression if i stick to my stock 1971 1100 and grind the head chamber out to 28mL

(any diff for a 998 as my friend wants this too)

Email sent, with pics.
My guess at C/R for a 1098 is, below 8:1. For a 998, even lower..
You need to calculate what you want, BEFORE you get the die grinder to it... 8)

Tuning is hard enough on a Single Carb !
I doubt you'd get needles anywhere NEAR close for a twin setup...
Nice casting though.... Jaguar ?

If you use it as an injection manifold, i think it might work nice.. plenty of volume.. BUT looks VERY tall .... may need to notch the bonnet.....

thankyou very much

whats bore and stroke on a stocker? 998 and 1100

and whats standard volume of chambers?

also, how far below the top of the block is the piston at TDC and thickness of head gasket at full head bolts torque

does stroke mean distance from TDC to BDC or distance from top of block to top of piston at BDC.

because without these figures i wouldnt be able to tell
and yes.. i know its best to rip the thing down and measure before going for it.. but id just like to know up front

cheers
Andrew

<edit> oh.. and with those pics.. you didnt really answer if the valves were actually recessed at all.. or are they in their OE location with the chanber cutting

cheers
Andrew

Bore of both is 64.58mm
Stroke is 76.2mm (998) 83.72mm (1098)

998 head chamber is 24.5cc, 1098 is 26.1.

Piston to deck height varies with pistons,
but work on 0.75mm.
Head gasket 0.75mm (guess- go measure an old one)

Stroke is distance the piston moves.

The big valves in my pics are on std centres- chamber has been cut to clear- just follow the gasket line.
