Changed the front brake backing plates from single leading shoe ones (I can't get parts at the moment for them    ) to twin leading shoe ones . Couldn't get the #$@$%#W$% brake hoses off the subframe so left them on . Master cylinder kit hasn't arrived yet either so have new brake parts on the front but no fluid in them or no master cylinder on the car :(

Also fitted the rear mat I got from mini king a couple of years ago and gave it all a damn good wash :D

Feels great to be getting the hands dirty on it again 8)

It still didn't wash all the grease and crud off from changing the brake backing plates though young Harley ...

Good to see you working on the car Ian. I have been stuffing around with adjustments on the mecahincal brake switch. The pressure switch used to cause the brake lights to never come on unless the brakes were slammed on, now the mechanical switch is causing them to never go off. The mounting bracket is as far forward as it can go and I'm not drilling any new holes so now I have to glue or screw an extension onto the plastic tip of the switch.

Did a wheel bearing/ball joint/brake inspection in preparation to my trip to Coffs on the 16th. I found everything in order except a slow leaking right rear wheel cylinder, adjusted the hand brake and it works too good
My to do list on NAV:
Replace right rear wheel cylinder,
umm, drive it :D

took the engine out to have a look at... actually mainly so the shell is easier to roll around tbh
bloody thing is for sale now... don't have the time and patience to get it running, got too much crap happening. Shame as the body really is in excellent condition :(

On the quiet , Ive been the recipient of the 1275LS that was in the for sale section, I finally bit the bullet and jumped.

It arrived friday night on a flatbed organised cap/rotor/points/condensor/plugs (leads looked quite new), oil filter and a few litres of oil.

Sofar today ive dropped it over to get the wheel alignment checked, changed the points, condensor, rotor button , cap, Have no idea on points gap so ive just set it wildly, runs alot better than it did, will nail down the gap setting and correct it later.

Dont have a socket big enough for the sump plug and the plugs a bit screwed so i dont want to play around with it with a shifter so it has the old oil it in and the new filter on, looks like it gets pushed in tonight to its cuby in the shed.

Cant see a timing mark so i gather im going to have to set it via the flywheel.

Will be hunting original 1275LS bits now as i wish to restore it as much as possible.

Have yet to check grease points, it had a lucus distributor cap so i gather its not been changed in a while and it needed it badly.

Fitted and wired in a backup thermo fan. Just to give me that extra confidence that I won't overheat my Mini whilst enjoying the parking lots Sydney calls highways on my way to and from work.

Checked that the original pot joint inards fit the new pot joints on the box - they do so all's good.

My order from 'Bob-the-Welder' arrived yesterday but only found it today  so can get stuck into the 'A' panel again.

Thinking of buying some more bits and pieces from the UK while the $ is sooo good. ($50 about $87 at the moment 8) )
