 Post subject: tacho + pulsar dizzy

how do you wire up a a tachometer to the pulsar dizzy, I just have a standard 3 gauge (clubman) cluster.

I have used a Pulsar dizzy in a Clubby, I wired it as stock and it worked OK.
Can't remember if the tacho was early or later model though.

On a Clubby GT, the tacho is wired in series with the power lead to the coil
When fitting a Pulsar dizzy to it, the black/white goes to the coil [+] terminal.
The blue wire goes to the coil's [-] terminal. The wire between the coil [-] and dizzy is removed with the old dizzy.

It is years since I did it.

Pretty sure a Clubby S is the same setup, it would be helpful if Leyland had produced an AUSTRALIAN diagram for it. None of my manuals have one, including the Leyland Black Book.

Don't forget that there are two different types of tachos on Clubbies/Leyland Minis. :wink:

Yes there are 2 Clubby S tachos, but I think they are both inductive loop.
Early one had banana plugs on the back, as did the GT one.
