Hi, i took off my smiths tacho to relocate it and cant get it working again.
it is one of those current sensing types.
the loop wire sits in a plastic block, does this just need to be clamped down close to the sensor?
it has power and earthed, its just not picking up the signal.
i have tested the wire and has 0 ohms
any ideas? or pics of the rear of a tacho?
cheers ryan

In a similar vein, what have I done wrong if my tacho needle rises and falls with the indicator flashes?

Try looping the sensing wire from your coil in the opposite direction through the pickup.
If you've connected +ve and -ve the right way around, this is the other thing to check.
