I have used Frank Kleinig at Giraween for a number of different types of vehicles, including the mini. He will definently find you horsepower. He has a distributor regraphing facility thare and is very good with webbers, not so sure about su's.

In saying that the last car I had in there would be 1996. I belive his sons run the business now.

The old dyno he had allegedly read low, howver my 1380 with webber, 11.2 to 1 compression and old 544 cam went in with 75hp and left with 86hp. The cheapest horsepower I ever found., and I belive fairly close to the mark as far as real world figures.

Give them a ring and discuss your needs, I have allways found them open and honest, and not out to make a fast buck. look in his workshop and there are allways heaps of cars there.

Bent S I found he was very truthfull to me with good service (which I like) he also mention that my dizzy needed remapping but I declined as it was not mine.
Maybe thats what is wrong with Morris.
Morris is booked in for next thursday for them to look at as Morris has sent me bald scratching a head

Frank use to race mini's some time ago and has passed on the business to his suns but frank still watches over. The reason I origanly went thier was that he does so much work on Formula V's (which I got to sit in a new one) and Historic Cars

Yeah he was really good at building the formula dak dak engines. In the eighties he used to build just about every engine in the field.

He also had a bit to do with formula brabham (holden) when it was introduced. ask him if he has still got his puke green UC torana, it had what was basically a formula brabham v6 in it and went like stink - a real sleeper.

MIke good question.

I'm going to answer this question for a friend down in ADL. I have only one at the moment but intend to get a number of other shops costing also.

One place I called on Friday charges

Skimming of a head $85
Bench Dyno $50Day
RR no does not do
Pocketing $150 (with the Engine Stripped)
Gearbox recond $200 to $2000 Deoenging on how huch work is required) yer ofcourse.

Previous RR $350

I have not mentioned which shops these r from as I'm not going to promot anywhere without experiance of thier work.

Hope this Helps

gaf, I think it'd $500 a day for the engine dyno (I can guess whose!), not 50.
It takes a while to set it up too, I've done it- it's not just a `drive in & spin the wheels' deal. But an engine dyno is still the best to find power, IMO.

<edit> Frank Kleinig has a scale of charges on his wall, but I can't remember how much. I think it was around $75 just to run it up?
