Hi All.
What are the correct screws to use to hold the MKI steering column shroud on? Where can I get some?
My very old column was just held on by a couple of self tappers at the top, and insulation tape at the bottom! So I would like to get it right this time.

A couple of self tappers. Little short ones with just the right diameter. I'm not sure but they may have been black originally, all the ones I ever see are rusty.

Thanks for your help Timbo, I wasn't sure if the little ones were a machine thread or self tapper. I'll see if autobarn etc have any black ones.

Had a look in the parts manual, the two numbers are different but seem to work out to be something like 6 gauge self tappers with a pozidrive pan head and ether 1/4" long or .325", and zinc plated. Black ones probably look better though.

Thanks Tim. I'll check out Autobarn or Bunnings... if I can't get black, I'll use a indelible black marker pen!

The correct self tappers are still available. Last time I dropped into The Mini King he had two wooden boxes full of the longer and shorter of the small self tappers. I grabbed a metric handful of both. I notice you're very nearby, if you're really keen to grab a couple drop me a PM.

On UK built cars, they are chrome finished and Philips head.
